Halifax is easy to explore on foot. Considered to be the capital of Atlantic Canada, it has all the charms of a historic city with its tree-lined avenues and elegant 18th- and 19th-century buildings.

DAY 2 - HALIFAX / BAY OF FUNDY ( 329 KM / 03H12 )

This morning you set out for New Brunswick and Fundy National Park.
Along the way, be sure to visit the picturesque village of Shediac, a charming corner of paradise by the sea.
You will certainly want to try the lobster at one of the town's famous seafood restaurants. After all, in addition to its many boutiques and art galleries, Shediac is known as the lobster capital of the world.
Now it is time to head for your campground in Fundy National Park, where you will be spending the next 3 nights.

DAY 3 - BAY OF FUNDY

To truly appreciate the magnitude of the tides, pay a visit to Hopewell Rocks, located in the provincial park of the same name.
Once there, picture yourself at low tide, walking around the base of these gigantic rock formations sculpted by tidal erosion into the shape of flowerpots... and then, 6 hours later, paddling a kayak around the very same formations, now almost submerged by water. Will you give it a try?

DAY 5 - BAY OF FUNDY / KOUCHIBOUGUAC NATIONAL PARK ( 209 KM / 02H09 )

Your adventure continues in Kouchibouguac National Park. We recommend taking the coastal road: the scenery is magnificent!
This immense park, a popular family destination, is made up of barrier islands, dunes, forests, lagoons, and salt marshes and offers some of the warmest saltwater beaches north of Virginia.

DAY 6 - KOUCHIBOUGUAC NATIONAL PARK

You have the whole day to enjoy Kouchibouguac National Park.
Before exploring the park, stop at the Visitor Reception Centre and talk to the staff. They will be able to suggest a panoply of activities: a stroll along the immense sand dunes, an afternoon at the beach, bird watching... and even stargazing!

DAY 7 - KOUCHIBOUGUAC NATIONAL PARK / PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND ( 223 KM / 02H36 )

Today the adventure leads to Prince Edward Island National Park.
To reach the island you will take the 12.9 km-long Confederation Bridge ($$), linking PEI to the mainland since 1997.
DAY 8 - PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND

Treat yourselves to a relaxing day in the Cavendish sector of Prince Edward Island National Park. You can relax on one of the beautiful beaches or admire the panoramic coastal views as you stroll along the Homestead Trail.
Be sure to take the Green Gables Shore drive along the Gulf of St. Lawrence and the edge of the national park: with its red sandstone cliffs, white sandy beaches, dunescapes, and farmland vistas, the landscapes are simply stunning.
DAY 9 - PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND / CAPE BRETON ( 579 KM / 06H31 )

This morning you set out for the Cape Breton Highlands National Park, in Nova Scotia. We suggest taking the ferry linking Prince Edward Island to Nova Scotia (reservations are recommended).
This park is a haven for nature lovers and is home to a variety of superb beaches.
Your first stop in the park is Ingonish Beach, a seaside community offering both freshwater and saltwater swimming, known for its warm waters.
DAY 10 - CAPE BRETON

Today you tackle the Franey Trail. This 7-km hike is rated difficult, but your efforts will be well rewarded!
The top of Franey Mountain offers sweeping views of the Clyburn Brook Canyon and the Atlantic coast, from Cape Smokey to Ingonish Beach.
Swimming enthusiasts will want to pay a visit to Ingonish Beach, where you can enjoy the warm waters of Freshwater Lake... or go for a dip in the salty Atlantic Ocean!
Or you can always go to Broad Cove Beach: this lovely sandy beach at the foot of your campground offers pleasant water temperatures for a brisk ocean swim.
DAY 11 - CAPE BRETON
Details
Today you will take one of the most scenic drives on the planet, the famous "Cabot Trail". The striking beauty of the landscape will leave you breathless.
This steep road skirts the edges of the park, at times clinging to steep oceanside cliffs. 24 look-offs provide opportunities to admire a rugged wilderness of turbulent ocean, rocky cliffs and lush forest, home to a wide range of wildlife.
Along the Cabot Trail, you will find many hiking trails as well as lookout points offering panoramic views.
DAY 12 - CAPE BRETON
Details
Cape Breton is also dotted with charming villages such as Chéticamp, Belle-Côte, Cap Lemoyne, and Grand-Étang. Be sure to pay them a visit!
Hiking enthusiasts won't want to miss hiking the Skyline Trail at sunset. This easy 7.5-km trail leads to a dramatic headland cliff where the mountains truly meet the sea, from which you can admire the magnificent sunset reflected off the ocean.
DAY 13 - CAPE BRETON / HALIFAX ( 404 KM / 04H28 )

It is not without regret that you leave the Atlantic provinces for the last - but not least - stage of your adventure in Eastern Canada: Halifax.
Soak up the sea air with a walk along the harbourfront, with its boardwalks bustling with activity.
DAY 14 - HALIFAX

Enjoy the last moments of your Canadian vacation, before heading to the Halifax airport for your flight home.
