Rhino Walking Safari
ITINERARY
1-4
Kruger National Park
Wildlife
After flying into Johannesburg, you’ll transfer on a short internal flight to Kruger National Park, famous as a ‘Big 5’ reserve, where you stand a good chance of seeing elephant, leopard, lion, and buffalo... as well, of course, rhinoceros.

You’ll be welcomed by your guide who will get you settled in at Rhino Post Safari Lodge, your luxurious home for the next 3 nights. Depending on timings and preferences, you may choose to join the afternoon game drive, then it’s time for dinner at the lodge as you prepare yourself for the rhino-packed days that follow.

Your time at Kruger will follow the perfect structure to give you the maximum opportunity of seeing the rhinos, and the other iconic wild animals that call the park home. During your morning game drives, the animals are usually at their most active and on your second game drive in the afternoon, the guides will have extra information about earlier sightings so that they can take you straight to the action.

5-7
Kruger National Park
Wildlife
On day 5 you'll enjoy an early morning game drive and breakfast at the lodge before you depart for your next stop - Plains Camp, which focuses on walking safaris.

You will be continuing your safari adventure on foot (it’s not too strenuous, but a reasonable level of fitness is required) when you join a rhino walking safari. You’ll have guided morning, afternoon and evening walk as part of a small group (max 8 people) led by highly-experienced, trained armed trail guides, as you make your way through the heart of the Big 5 territory. As darkness falls you will transfer to a 4x4 vehicle to continue looking for animals and watching for eyes glowing in the night sky. Best of all, you’ll be sleeping under the stars, so you will get a true sense of being out in the balmy African wilderness.

8-11
Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Park
Wildlife
On day 8 you will have a hearty breakfast at the lodge before heading on an internal flight to Rhino Ridge Safari Lodge at the Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Game Reserve - Africa's oldest reserve. Here you will get even more opportunities to see the Big 5 as you join exhilarating drives in specially-adapted open, high game viewers, plus you will have another chance to go on a walking safari and see what you can discover on foot. The animals are, of course, the main attraction, and as well as the Big 5 you may also see the ‘Small 5’. The ironically-named Elephant Shrew, weighing just 60 grams, lives here, along with the red-billed Buffalo Weaver, the Leopard Tortoise, the Ant Lion, and the Rhinoceros Beetle.

This stunning lodge is the perfect place to spend your final few days doing what you love – wildlife spotting, big or small. Of course, the experience wouldn’t be complete without evening sundowners. What a way to round off your safari adventure!

On Day 11 you'll transfer to Durban for your flight home, full of wonderful memories of the incredible animals you encountered on your trip.
