You'll depart Negombo for the lush countryside of Sigiriya, stopping by a local village to explore it by bicycle. Visit Lellama, the largest open-air fish market in the country and learn more about the lives of the local fishermen. Watch as the boats come in, the fish getting sorted and then sold on stalls. Then it's time to check into Aliya Resort & Spa, which boasts a glorious infinity pool and views out to Lion Rock.

The next morning you'll take a morning yoga session before hiking to the top of Lion Rock, a challenging trek that rewards its climbers with sweeping views and ancient ruins. Back at the hotel, you'll take part in a Sri Lankan cooking lesson with an experienced chef who will help you combine authentic Sri Lankan flavors with optimum nutrition. The result? An enjoyable, wholesome meal.

The afternoon is yours to spend as you please. Relax at the hotel or sign up for an extra excursion. You could embark on a hike up Ritigala Mountain to see the ruins of an ancient monastery and cave complex or visit the medieval capital of Sri Lanka –Polonnaruwa. Alternatively, you could visit Dambulla Cave Temple, or take a jeep safari in Minneriya National Park.
