Steps Through History
Welcome to the City of Lights! Once you land in the capital city of Paris, you will be met by your private driver who will take you to your hotel to settle in and freshen up. Once you are ready, it's time to take a late afternoon cruise along the scenic Seine River, which is one of the best ways to see the city. Over the course of an hour, you'll cruise from Trocadero all the way to the East of Paris, giving you an unusual view of many of Paris’ most famous landmarks, whilst also taking in the passing scenes and the local life around you.
After restful night’s sleep and delicious breakfast, it is time to head out on a full-day walking tour of the city. You'll start off at the world-famous Louvre Museum where you'll discover iconic pieces like the Mona Lisa and the Venus de Milo. Afterward, you'll visit the Pantheon, first built as a church and now used as a mausoleum that houses the remains of distinguished French citizens.
The following day you'll visit Versailles. Here you'll get to see the Palace where Marie Antoinette lived and the gorgeous gardens surrounding it. After half a day exploring this area, it's back to Paris. On your last full day in the capital, you'll head out with a private tour guide for a full day of sightseeing. Over the course of the day, you'll explore attractions including Les Invalides, Napoleon's Tomb and Army Museum before summiting the Eiffel Tower for spectacular views over the city.
Leaving the capital behind, it’s time to head north to Bayeux by train. Once you arrive and have settled in, enjoy a private two-hour walking tour of the area during which you'll visit the excellent Bayeux Tapestry Museum.
After a night at your leisure, the next day will be spent on a full-day tour of Utah, Omaha & US Airborne Sectors, which will take you back in time, following in the steps of World War II soldiers. Your English-speaking guide will teach you all about D-Day and its history as you travel around the locations where the events unfolded. On this insightful tour, you'll visit Omaha Beach, American Cemetery, Pointe-du-Hoc, Saint-Mère-Église, Airborne Museum, and Utah Beach, which is the second beach where the American troops landed.
Today you'll take a day trip out to the attractive island of Mont Saint Michel, one of the country's most famous landmarks. As the day unfolds, you'll enjoy a full tour of this amazing location and see sites like the Abbey, one of the first UNESCO World Heritage sites. From here it's on to Saint-Malo, for the final leg of your French adventure. Your time in this port city is yours to spend as you please. Perhaps you’ll want to check out the striking central Cathedral, or simply sit with a coffee and croissant and watch daily life unfold.
