The day for your big family adventure through Canada is here at last – woo-hoo! After packing any last-minute essentials you’ll hop aboard a plane to Calgary. After passing through customs make your way to your hotel to settle in. You’ll stay for just one night – but not to worry, you’ll be back!

The next day collect your hire car and start your adventure. The first stop is the Royal Tyrrell Museum of Palaeontology. It’s easily one of the most impressive dinosaur museums in the world and Canada’s only museum dedicated exclusively to the science of paleontology. Be sure to check out 'Black Beauty', a fascinating 67-million-year-old Tyrannosaurus. 

Ready for a spot more dino exploring? Good, because the next day you’re off to the Dinosaur Provincial Park in Southern Alberta, a UNESCO World Heritage site where over 40 species and 400 skeletons have been found. Immerse yourself in the visitor center where you’ll be surrounded by real tools of the trade and learn how much fossils can teach us about ancient environments and the animals that lived there. You’ll even get a chance to create your own authentic fossil cast – a cool souvenir for the kids to take home.

Waterton National Park

Next up you’ll head to the mountains where you’ll stay on the edge of Waterton Lake surrounded by majestic mountain scenery. Despite its boundless natural beauty, this glorious and dramatic National Park remains off the beaten tourist track. You’ll get to know this park better on a 10.5 km hike through aspen forest and prairie grasslands. Wildlife watchers will be in their element – lookout for bison, coyotes and even bears. You’ll also have a chance to soak up the peace and tranquillity of this lake with a scenic cruise - don’t forget to pack the camera!

Calgary
City
You’ll finish up your trip back in Calgary where you can explore its cool eateries, quirky boutiques, and excellent coffee. This evening, don your western duds and saddle up for the greatest rodeo show on Earth, the Calgary Stampede, kicking off with a spectacular fireworks display to get you in the mood. Watch professional cowboys compete in bull riding, chuckwagon racing and steer racing. You can all join in too with a spot of square dancing! Enjoy the excellent traditional Western hospitality.  

On Day 10 you’ll head home with plenty of new family travel memories you will all treasure forever.
