Spirit of Haida Gwaii
ITINERARY
1-2
Vancouver
City + Activity & Adventure
The day is here at last! Once you land in Vancouver you’ll make your way to your hotel to settle in. Thanks to the compact design of this beautiful city, it’s easy and fun to explore on foot. Wander around charming Chinatown, go back in time at Gastown or simply marvel at the surrounding mountainous natural beauty. The next day you’ll take an invigorating bike tour around Stanley Park before having a go on the high-tech ride FlyOver Canada. Over eight minutes you’ll ‘fly’ over Canada’s incredible scenery and leave with a greater overview of this vast country. Later, catch the Aqua bus to Granville Island and enjoy a food tour around the market.

3-11
Haida Gwaii
Tour + Cruise
Bid farewell to Vancouver and take a picturesque flight to Masset. Once you land you’ll take a tour of Masset, Old Masset, North Beach, and Tow Hill before finishing up with a tour of Graham Island.

After exploring The Haida Heritage Centre at Kay Llnagaay say goodbye to land and get ready to try out life at sea! Your new home? Maple Leaf – a classic 92-foot schooner just made for engaging with the natural world. Sculpted out of coastal Douglas fir, yellow cedar and mahogany, this boat is as tough as it is beautiful.

Over the next few days, you’ll go whale watching, kayaking and explore Gwaii Haanas, a National Park Reserve. Often cited as a highlight of the cruise is the visit to the UNESCO World Heritage site; the SGang Gwaay. At this village of Ninstints, you'll find remains of houses and carved totem poles which will help you understand the Haida people's culture and lifestyle. Afterward you’ll visit the remote community of Rose Harbour. Built on the site of an abandoned whaling station, the population here is just four!

The wildlife watching opportunities aboard Maple Leaf are staggering and as you journey onwards you’ll understand why the Haida Gwaii is often referred to as the ‘Canadian Galapagos’.

On Day 11 you’ll head home with plenty of photographs and stories to share with your friends and family.
