Secrets of the Yucatán
ITINERARY
1
Yucatán
General Tour
You'll touch down in Cancún, no doubt eager to get some rest after your flight. Fortunately, you'll soon be at your hotel for the night – El Mesón del Marqués in Valladolid. Here you'll have the chance to acclimatize in style, in a 17th-century Colonial mansion, affording you a taste of traditional Mexico along with all mod cons.

2-5
Merida & Around
General Tour + Wildlife
You'll awake to feel refreshed, and after a hearty breakfast, it's on to your next location – the Hacienda Temozon near Merida. You'll be greeted with a full VIP honeymoon package, including complimentary wine on arrival, before settling in for the evening in your romantic room – your home for the next four nights.

The Temozon is a former plantation estate, so its grounds are vast – and it dates back to the 17th century, giving a nice taste of history. However, on day three you'll have the chance to step even further back in time, with a private guided tour to Chichen Itza. This ancient Maya city is full of fascinating ruins and is a popular destination – however, you will be arriving through a private entrance, avoiding the throng. Your guide will show you around the ruined city's many sights, including sacred temples, cenotes (natural sinkholes) once used for sacrificial purposes, and even an ancient ball court. The real treat can be found as you descend into the dark depths of the Kukulcan Pyramid, where the rarely seen Chac Mool sculpture is found. After this historical adventure, lunch is laid on at the nearby Mayaland resort – along with a traditional dance performance.

During its days as a plantation, the Temozon mainly produced Sisal – a plant material used in ropemaking. So, on day four you'll have a chance to experience first-hand exactly what life was like for the owners and workers on the estate, as you travel to the nearby Hacienda de Sotuta de Peon, home to the Live Sisal Museum. You'll enjoy a tour of the main house, before taking a mule-drawn truck to the sisal fields and viewing some of the processes involved in ropemaking. There's also a chance to go swimming in the underground waters of the cenote in the hacienda's grounds, followed by a lunch consisting of regional specialties.

On day five you'll have the chance to explore the Temozon's grounds and outbuildings, spending a relaxing day together. Perhaps you'll want to laze by the pool or take a donkey-drawn truck around the estate in search of the Temozon's own cenote. In some of the outbuildings, artisan producers still work, creating furniture, textiles and other crafts, mostly for the local community.

6-12
Yucatán
Activity & Adventure + Beach
It's time to bid farewell to the Temozon on day six, but not before a delicious breakfast to see you off. Then it's off to the Hip Hotel Tulum, where you will spend the remainder of your honeymoon. You'll be driven by private transfer – it's about three and a half hours – and on arrival, you'll find a beautiful luxury hotel set right on the beach, with stunning views and romantic rooms.

On your first day in Tulum, you'll rise early and get a rare chance to watch the sun rise at the Tulum archaeological site. A guide will meet you in the lobby and drive you to the site before it opens, giving you a private guided tour of the ancient Maya city before it's even open to the public.

The next day, there's a private tour to the nature reserve at Rio Secreto, where you will explore the natural cave systems, swimming or wading through the warm, clear waters as your guide takes you through the many vast chambers to see dramatic views of stalactites and stalagmites. There is also the chance to enjoy a private candlelit dinner on the beach of the hotel – what could be more romantic?

For the rest of your stay, you'll have the chance to relax by the pool, laze on the beach, enjoy a spa treatment or several, or even take further private tours around the peninsula (Sian Kaan Reserve is recommended). Your time, however, is entirely your own – so enjoy it as you wish.

On day twelve you'll awake sad to leave the Yucatán behind, but excited to begin your new life together once you get back home.
