However, a considerable number of world nationals still need to apply for a visa in order to be able to enter the country.

Who Needs a Visa for Fiji?

Fiji Visa Types

According to the intended entries to Fiji, you can apply for one of the two visas listed below:

  • Single Entry Visa (SEV), which is valid for 3 months and can be used to enter Fiji only once.

  • Multiple Entry Visa (MEV), which is valid for multiple entries to Fiji within a period of 12 months, starting from the date of issue. The multiple entry visa holder can remain in Fiji for 4 months at most, for each entry.

Fiji Visa Requirements

The main part of the application process for a Fiji visa, is collecting the required documents. Based on these documents the Fiji visa division takes a decision on your application and whether you are suitable to be permitted to enter their country. Fiji visa requirements for holiday purpose

  • Visa Application form fully completed.

  • Copy of the Passport main page with bio data. Must be certified.

  • Two recent passport size photos, in color.

  • Confirmation of pre-booked hotel, if you will be staying at a hotel.

  • A copy of the travel itinerary/ticket.

  • Proof of funds to financially support yourself during the whole duration of stay. This could be your bank statements or visa cards.

  • Proof of approved visa and onward ticket, if you will be traveling to another country after Fiji, for which you need a visa.

  • Consent letter from spouse (if travelling alone).

  • Consent letter from parents, for individuals 18 years old and under travelling alone.

  • Approved leave letter from work or school, stating the days of absence. The letter must be signed and stamped by the employer/school principal.

  • If you will be staying over at friends or family members you also need to submit:

    • Sponsoring letter by the local host.

    • Copy of host’s valid ID/passport/residence permit.



Fiji visa requirements for transit purpose

  • Visa Application form fully completed.

  • Proof of approved visa/permit for the next destination

  • Proof of onward ticket to the next destination and another outward ticket if travelling out of that destination.

  • Copy of the Passport main page with bio data. Must be certified.

  • Two recent passport size photos, in color.

Fiji visa requirements for business/training/workshop purpose

  • Visa Application form fully completed.

  • Two recent passport size photos, in color.

  • Copy of the Passport main page with biodata. Must be certified.

  • Sponsor letter if a local company/organization is sponsoring your trip. The letter must indicate the person undertaking the expenses for the whole period if stay.

  • A copy of the travel itinerary/ticket.

Fiji visa requirements for fishing agencies (crew / seaman)

  • Visa Application form fully completed.

  • Letter from the organization.

  • Copy of the Passport main page with bio data. Must be certified.

  • Certified copy of itinerary/ticket if joining a vessel in another destination.

  • A list with all the names of the crewmembers.


Fiji Visa Application Process

To apply for a Fiji visa, you will first need to collect the documents listed above, in accordance with the purpose of your intended trip to Fiji. Then you will need to submit these documents at the Fiji High Commission or embassy office located nearest to your place of residence.

If the visa division decides to grant the applicant with a visa, an approval letter is sent to him/her, notifying the validity of the visa and permitted duration of stay in Fiji.

Fiji Visa Fee

As a part of your application for a Fiji visa, you will also need to pay a fee. The fee depends only on the type of visa you are applying for, as follows:

  • If you are applying for a single entry visa you will need to pay $91.00

  • Whereas, if you are applying for a single entry visa you will need to pay $180.00

Fiji Visa Processing Time

The visa division of the Fiji Department of Migration will take three days to process a visa application, from the day of receiving the application file.

This period may be extended in cases when the application is incomplete, or additional documents or clarification are required for its processing.

Do I Need a Visa to Transit Fiji?

If you are transiting through Fiji in a bid to reach your destination country, you may need to get a visa. If your period of stay in Fiji is shorter than three hours, then you can use Fiji as a transiting country without any visa.

However, if you need to stay longer than that, then you need to apply for a regular Fiji visitor visa.

Is Fiji a Safe Country to Visit?

If you wish to visit Fiji, but you are unsure of its safety, then we can assure you Fiji is a safe country overall. However, it isn’t immune to crime and tourists are usually targeted.

Still, if you take a few measures you will be absolutely safe. Do not walk alone late at night, and at all times try to keep your belongings close. Be careful when you withdraw money from any ATMs or banks.

You can reach Fiji by flying at its Nadi International Airport located in Viti Levu. There are flights from Los Angeles, about 10 hours long, From New Zealand, about three hours, and from Australia, which may take approximately four hours of your time. Other flights:

  • The Fiji Museum in Viti Levu will help you learn everything about the fascinating Fijian culture and history. The small museum is set within the Thurston Gardens, so you can also visit those at the same time.

  • Sri Siva Subramaniya Temple in Nadi is the largest and most colorful Hindu Temple in the Southern Hemisphere. It is not only a magnet to believers but also tourists and admirers of the Dravidian architecture.
